For almost 15 years I’ve been struggling with allergies that cause a lot of itching on my skin. I also had a lot of mucus, crusts and blood coming from my nose. I reacted to something that made me blow my nose heavily every morning, sometimes with a nosebleed. Sometimes I even got a spontaneous nosebleed while cycling to work.

I finally found relief from my unexplained allergy with Capsinol Nasal Spray.

Eventually I was examined in the hospital by a specialist. It turned out I’m allergic to, among other things, colophonium (resin from pine trees), which causes the itching. Luckily, there are good pills for that. What my nose was reacting to, however, was never found. I have an “unexplained allergy” that makes my nose react quite strongly. They couldn’t find what triggered it, not dust mites, not pollen, not perfume.

I was prescribed Avamys, a corticosteroid-based nasal spray. It works for chronically inflamed nasal tissue, allergies and hay fever. I used this product for about six years; I always sprayed in the evening so I could sleep without a blocked nose. But every morning the same gunk kept coming out of my nose. I have to say, in winter I had more trouble during the day than in summer, so it must have something to do with cold or humidity. But the amount that came out each morning was always the same, no matter the season.

My first introduction to Capsinol

Through a cousin I heard about Capsinol. She had the Original formula, so I tried it at her place. It felt like the pepper shot straight into my brain, and suddenly air rushed through too — something I wasn’t used to anymore.

I then used both products for three months. When the Avamys ran out, I continued fully with Capsinol — the mild formula! Because once your nose works properly again and the inflammation is gone, the original version is too strong. That’s why the mild one is so nice: I take two sprays in the evening as a maintenance dose. If I forget it for one or two evenings, nothing happens. Only on the third evening does my nose start to block again and the problems return.

Patience makes the difference

What I really want to emphasise: you need a bit of patience before Capsinol becomes truly and long-lastingly effective. That’s different from chemical medicine, which often works immediately. Another great thing is that you can simply take an extra spray when you feel a light cold coming. If I’m properly ill, I use the Original. And now there’s even an extra strong version!

In short: I’m very happy to have found a natural product that works better than the chemical solution I used before. I still blow my nose every morning, but no more gunk comes out — just a bit of loose mucus. And the nosebleeds are long gone, which is such a relief.

I often tell people about it, but they look at me as if I’m crazy: Pepper? In your nose?
